
Agra
Agra is famous as being home to one of the seven wonders of the world-the Taj Mahal. Kanchipuram
The golden city of temples is one of the seven sacred cities of Hindu mythology. The plethora of temples in this city is unique in it's own way. The weavers of Kancheepuram have been famous since ancient times and has maintained it's reputation of providing some of the best weaved silk sarees in the world. The exquisite designs in combination with fine golden thread has a class of it's own. It has also been the centre of culture and learning. Adhi Shankaracharya, one of the greatest gurus of India has established his ashram (Kamakoti Peetam) here. Kancheepuram is 71 km from Chennai.
Jaipur
Jaipur or the "Pink City' as it is popularly called makes up one of the three points in the Golden Triangle of Indian tourism, the other two being Delhi and Agra. It is also the gateway to Rajasthan- and a visit to the city gives you a glimpse of the entire Rajasthan experience: forts, palaces, pink sandstone monuments, museums and colourful shopping. Built in 1727 AD by the famous astronomer king, Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, Jaipur is a blend of princely heritage, feudal traditions and genuine Rajasthani hospitality. It took almost six years to complete the city of Jaipur, which was interestingly, the country's first modern city to be designed in a grid form over two centuries ago. The city is surrounded by a crenellated wall with seven gates meant for protection against the invading enemies.
Khajuraho
The Khajuraho temples were built in the short span of a hundred years, from 950-1050AD in a truly inspired burst of creativity. Of the 85 original temples, 22 have survived till today to constitute one of the world's great artistic wonders. The world renowned temple town of Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh designated by UNESCO as a world heritage site for its archaeological and historical monuments.
